    • Curriculum Integration
      • 1st and 2nd grade: parts of a plant; plant life cycles
        • hoop house gardening in spring
        • seed starting under lights
        • seed saving in fall
      • Task-oriented signs/activities for classes of students with autism
      • Sensory garden for all students but specifically developed for those with severe physical impairments
      • 3rd grade: measuring perimeter and area of garden and beds
      • 4th grade: Native American crops
        • 3 sisters garden
      • 5th grade hoop house planting and monitoring of weekly growth
    • Recess Gardening
      • Optional gardening station activities during lunch recess on Fridays
        • 2 adult volunteers ideal; less tools needed the better
      • Try-It Tuesday/Thursday
        • Once a week produce is harvested from the garden and sampled in the cafeteria during students' lunch period.  One vegetable or fruit is featured each week.  Food is minimally processed if at all.
      • Scavenger hunts in the fall (see handout)
      • Fall harvest and cooking in the classroom
        • teacher/parent initiated
        • cooking cart is a google calendar checkout
      • Summer Adoption Program
        • 2 families/week
        • families harvest during their week
        • orientation packet emailed
      • Summer Food and Garden Club
        • 1/month
        • focus on exploring the garden and watching things grow
        • last club of the season is cooking based
      • Student Green Team
        • teacher led
        • 1/week during lunch
        • work on signage, garden planning, iEARN Daffodil Peace Project
      • Walk-A-Thon Salad
        • planted/tended by 5th grade in hoop house in March/April
        • salad making table and forkfuls of salad to try at the event
      • All School Spring Planting
        • each class signs up for a time to plant
          • need 2 adult volunteers /class
