International Student Enrollment (F-1 Academic Program)

At Ann Arbor Public Schools, we value diversity as a strength and welcome global perspectives in our schools. AAPS is certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to enroll eligible F-1 academic program students at our three comprehensive high schools: Huron, Pioneer, and Skyline. International students must apply to the district. AAPS makes enrollment decisions based on eligibility criteria and space available.

To be eligible to attend AAPS on an F-1 academic program visa, you must be:

  1. Proficient in English
  2. Between ages 14 and 19
  3. Entering grades 9 - 12
  4. Have not completed high school in your home country
  5. Able to pay tuition and living expenses
F-1 academic program students are limited to one year of study at US public high schools, and must reimburse the district the full, unsubsidized cost of attending. The cost to attend AAPS for the 2017-18 school year is $10,000, or $5,000 for one semester. For more information about federal guidelines see Study in the States.

The international student application for the 2017-18 school year is available here. Priority deadline is May 1, 2017.

AAPS is not responsible for international student housing. International students may live with a relative or family friend who lives within district boundaries. Students in need of housing may apply to AAPS through an approved partner organization that places students with host families.

Chinese Global Education Partnership

For the 2016-17 school year, Ann Arbor Public Schools will welcome approximately 20 Chinese 11th graders to our comprehensive high schools (Huron, Pioneer, Skyline). These students will stay with local host families and attend school with their American peers.
