    Principal Madison’s Notes

Dicken Dash was an amazing success thanks to the entire Dicken Community! Our students raised $22,408.60 for Dicken School!! Special thanks to the Dash Committee – Chair Kathleen Fortini; committee members Jennifer Brogno, Becky Clark, and Bethany Williston. They exceeded all expectations for this fundraiser.

Leader in Me is moving along smoothly at Dicken. Staff have rolled out the first three Habits. Please read more about Leader in Me in the Attached LIM newsletter.

Building Wide Parent Teacher Conferences happen on Tuesday. Have you scheduled your conference? MSTEP, NWEA, Benchmark assessments & student goals will be shared at these conferences.

Dicken Flu Clinic is back again this year! Rite aide will set up in the Staff Lounge near the Multi-Purpose room from 3:30-7 pm on Tuesday so that staff, parents & students can get their Flu Shots right at Dicken. See additional information in the blast.

Wednesday is a Half Day; Students will be dismissed at 11:53 am. Please make sure to have a plan in place for pick up and afternoon activities. The Dicken staff will be in Professional development all afternoon. Thank you for allowing our staff to learn together during the school day.

Pumpkin Patch is this Friday, This is a family activity. Do not just drop off your child at the school. Students are encouraged to wear the Halloween costumes to the Pumpkin Patch.  There will be games & refreshments at a small cost. It will be 6-8 pm. See attached flyer for details.

Halloween is next Monday, October 31st. Students should bring their costumes in their backpacks. Staff will help them change into costumes after lunch for the parade. We will walk around the Dicken neighborhood starting around 1:30 pm. Parents are welcome to participate. Following the parade classes will have various parties & celebrations. Please know that if your family doesn't celebrate Halloween, your child doesn't have to wear a costume to Pumpkin Patch, participate in our Halloween parade or classroom party. Please let your teacher know so that we can discuss an alternate plan. You always have the option to keep your child home Monday afternoon.

Halloween Candy that is collected Monday evening should stay at home and not be brought to school to share with friends. We want to maintain a healthy environment and respect the values of other families about not sharing & eating candy in school.
